All feels so long ago now
I’ve always had a love for design since I was little. I remember always with craft paper and pens, drawing, making and more. I used to make pop up cards for everyone. I would draw my favourite pokemon 24/7. I then found my true love, origami and can spend hours making things.
High school was the start of graphic design though. The majority of stuff we did was technical drawing. Drawing 3D cubes over and over again, perfume bottles and using corel draw (does anyone even use that anymore? Answers on a postcard). But there was something about it which I loved.
In college i enrolled on a BTEC course which was great. We had a lot more freedom on this one, never before could we use paint! Finally learnt Photoshop which was an asset but for some reason never illustrator.
This proved incredibly difficult starting university. Illustrator feels like an essential program to know, and I had no idea how to work it. Vector? Who’s vector? Anyway, over the 3 years, I have taught myself (and A LOT of online tutorials) to understand it. The 3 years at De Montfort were amazing. First year had a variety of modules from digital aspects such as photography and CAD to hands on activities such as life drawing and print making. I learnt a lot there and found out my own strengths and my love for branding.
Just thought i’d put up a bit more info about my education. I will update soon with graphics stuff don’t worry
